Anandiben Patel to succeed Narendra Modi as new CM of Gujarat;Swearing in ceremony to be held in Gandhinagar tomorrow.
Narendra Modi resigned from Gujarat Chief Minister after soon a meeting of BJP MLAs and leaders was held at Gandhinagar.
and Senior minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama proposed Anandiben’s name as the new Chief Minister.Anandiben was presented a book of Ramayana after her election.
72-year-old Anandiben will take oath as 15th Chief Minister of Gujarat on Thursday at 12.39 pm.
Modi congratulated party MLAs for their decision to elect Anandiben as their leader. He said entire party has full faith on her capabilities and Gujarat will continue to progress under her leadership.
Modi pointed out that Anandiben was a teacher and when teachers are angry by nature, but that’s good for students. Modi mentioned this considering the fact that many party workers don’t like Anandiben due to her angry/arrogant nature.
Gujarat has got woman as Chief Minister for the first time in its history.

Anandi completed her BSc and then taught at and became principal of a girls’ school in Ahmedabad. “Our home was a meeting point for Keshubhai Patel, Shankersinh Vaghela and Narendrabhai. She would mostly cook for them. One day Keshubhai, said that the BJP needed educated women. I persuaded her to join and she was made president of Gujarat Mahila Morcha,” says Mafatbhai.
She joined the Jana Sangh in 1976 and became the BJP’s first elected district panchayat member in 1981. In 1992, she was the only woman leader to unfurl the tricolor in Jammu and Kashmir during the BJP’s Ekta Yatra. After becoming an MP in 1994, then contesting an assembly election in 1998, she became Gujarat education minister.
